Live on Stage

I feel very fortunate to live in close proximity to New York City and take full advantage of it by visiting pretty often. Today was a first for both my daughter Leah and S., our foreign exchange student. No, not visiting the city, but actually enjoying a Broadway show.

Joe and I surprised them with tickets to see Disney's Beauty and the Beast today. It was the perfect fall day to visit the city (temps in the mid 60's) and we lucked out with orchestra seats only twelve rows from the stage. The show took almost three hours (including intermission) and the whole time Leah's eyes were glued to the stage. Donny Osmand was a guest performer playing Gaston and he was great (I also once saw him perform in Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat). I have seen many Broadway shows over the years and found that this one is a perfect show to introduce a child to live theater.

How totally cool to live so close to NYC and have all this great culture at your fingertips!! Being from Utah, I have seen Donny many times out and about in SLC. When both Donny and I were 13, he asked me to roller skate at the local skating rink... even held his hands. Ah... a walk down memory lane. He was great in Joseph!!! Beauty is one of the shows on my MUST SEE list!!! Great Leah had such a great time!!!

What a great time! I'd love to be able to expose MYSELF to more live theatre. Oh, to be able to do so with my daughter would be the best :0)

Sounds like a great time. Can't wait to see my first show on Broadway. Ooh, I had such a crush on Donny Osmond as a kid. He was a little bit rock 'n' roll, you know.

What? What foreign exchange student? Without giving away too much of her privacy, can you blog about the steps and reasons for hosting? I've thought about it in the past, but decided to postpone this until a few years from now (after consulting a fellow blogger who was herself an exchange student).

Sounds like loads of fun and what a wonderful experience for your exchange student. We took ours on a trip to DC over the Christmast holidays. She loved it. I assume everything is working out ok. ?

That is so wonderful. Memories to last and they will always remember their first musical. I do..."Cats".

P.S. Make the Lemon Blossoms...BIG hit! Thanks for the recipe.

I am THRILLED for you! Man that would have been something to see! Beauty and the Beast would be my first choice to go see as an adult much less as a kid! Oh I bet it was wonderful! You can be happy you weren't sitting next to me tho as I would likely have sung right along ;)

Hugs
